Released in early 2025, the LUNA-BX7™ automated cell counter is the newest cell counter in the award-winning LUNA™ family of automated cell counters.
Using the design of the popular LUNA-FX7™ dual-fluorescence and brightfield automated cell counter, the LUNA-BX7™ offers the same high throughput and high performance with brightfield-only optics providing a cost-effective solution for labs with multiple applications, multiple users, or a higher volume of daily cell counts.
Like the LUNA-FX7™, the LUNA-BX7™features machine-learning capabilities as well as superior precision and sensitivity thanks to the advanced software and de-clustering algorithms which return consistent, reproducible results. The adaptive touchscreen interface and easy-to-use software make it perfect for a beginner or a seasoned scientist.
The LUNA-BX7™ offers quality control features plus the optional bioprocessing mode and optional CountWire™ software for compliance with GMP manufacturing compliance.
Unique to the LUNA-BX7™is the LUNA-BX7™ to LUNA-FX7™ upgrade pathway. This option enables users to add dual-fluorescence optics to the LUNA-BX7™ essentially converting the system into a LUNA-FX7™. The upgrade pathway is ideal for labs that may need fluorescence capabilities in the future, but current needs and budget constraints make a brightfield cell counter the optimal choice.
Like the LUNA-FX7™, the LUNA-BX7™ offers multiple disposable slide formats. This includes 1-, 2-, 3-, and 8-chamber slide configurations for brightfield cell counting. With these slide formats, users can view up to 47 counting fields compared with 1-3 counting fields offered by comparable systems. The user-friendly software makes it easy to navigate between individual slide chambers, so no chamber goes unused.
The system is also compatible with the eco-friendly LUNA™ Reusable Slide offering an environmentally friendly and budget-friendly option. This is important for labs that can’t risk cross-contamination, and need the flexibility offered with disposable slides.
Other accessories available for the LUNA-BX7™ include LUNA™ standard beads for calibration, external printer, brightfield validation slide, IQ/OQ protocol as well as related reagents.
The LUNA™ family of automated cell counters have become known for their accuracy, precision, and producing reliable and consistent results. The most notable automated cell counters in the LUNA™ family are the LUNA-II™
(brightfield), LUNA-III™ (brightfield), LUNA-FL™ (dual-fluorescence), and the LUNA-FX7™ (fully automated, dual fluorescence, high through-put). However, also included in the family is the LUNA-STEM™ and the QUANTOM Tx™ Microbial Cell Counter.
