The SpectraSlide® AP-1 featured in Biocompare’s latest Bench Tips series

Biocompare | August 07, 2025

Biocompare has released the latest editorial article in its popular Bench Tips series entitled, ‘Streamline Cell Counting with All-In-One Sampling and Staining,’ highlighting the new SpectraSlide® AP-1 designed specifically for the LUNA-FX7™ automated cell counter by Logos Biosystems.

The article discusses different cell counting methods, the principles of AO/PI staining, and protocols for staining with AO/PI. Using acridine orange (AO) and propidium iodide (PI) has grown in popularity as a staining method in fluorescence cell counting especially for analyzing cell viability and for complex cells where debris and non-nucleated cells are a factor.

With that in mind and seeking ways to improve lab workflow and eliminate waste in the cell sample prep stage, Logos Biosystems developed the SpectraSlide® AP-1, for the LUNA-FX7™ automated cell counter. This slide offers an all-in-one disposable slide option with no stains or pipettes needed.

In addition to streamlining the sample prep process, the SpectraSlide® AP-1 also increases accuracy by analyzing twice the volume of a standard hemocytometer with less than 20 µL per sample.
