How the new LUNA-FX7™ is helping to advance the field of personalized genomics
The new LUNA-FX7™ Automated Cell Counter has made global headlines in the field of genomic analysis.
The state-of-the-art addition to the LUNA™ family has proved a big hit at Macrogen, Inc., a global leader in precision medicine and biotechnology, where it has helped to increase the throughput, reliability, and accuracy of single-cell RNA sequencing and precision medicine workflows.
In an interview with leading independent science publisher SelectScience, Sangmi Han, Head of the Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Technical Services Department, explains how her team uses genomic sequencing information from patients to identify the cause of specific diseases.
This genetic analysis can then be used to develop diagnostic kits and panels that enable diseases to be more accurately diagnosed, predicted, prevented, and treated — ultimately leading to a much higher quality of life for the patient.
Key to the construction of single-cell sequencing libraries that underpin Macrogen’s groundbreaking work is the new LUNA-FX7™ cell counter.
“This instrument provides not only high accuracy but also high throughput, with the LUNA™ 8-channel slides enabling the counting of eight separate samples at once, fully assisting us in overcoming any potential difficulties we may face during our experiments,” Han tells SelectScience.
Han goes on to discuss her thoughts on the future growth in demand for personal genomics and disease prediction and prevention services.
