The LUNA™ family of automated cell counters from Logos Biosystems was awarded the SelectScience® Gold Seal of Quality at a special awards reception during the 2019 AACC annual scientific meeting and clinical lab expo in Anaheim, California, USA. SelectScience Seals of Quality are given to top-rated products that meet specific criteria based on the number and average rating of user reviews. The LUNA family is the first set of cell counters to receive seals of quality for customer satisfaction and is now one of just seven products worldwide to have been recognized with a gold seal.
Kathy Evans of the Duke Cancer Institute commented that the LUNA-FL “is extremely user friendly and easy to switch from brightfield to fluorescence to GFP. The option to use a reusable slide also makes this instrument cost effective when only counting one sample. It takes up very little bench space and fits in our small tissue culture room where space is a premium.” Laura Finnegan of the Trinity College Dublin said that the classic LUNA is “a great cell counter, love how easy it is to use.” Matthew Scarnati of the Child Health Institute at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School used to use a hemocytometer to count multiple stem cell lines and mentioned that the LUNA-II “not only saves time, but gives accurate and yield consistent counts between cell lines. Great product!”
Launched in July 2017, SelectScience Seals of Quality help scientists and healthcare professionals around the world see what products have been most appreciated by their peers and help them make important purchasing decisions for their labs. SelectScience Editor Dr. Lois Manton O’Byrne said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our reviewers for sharing their valuable opinions and also to congratulate the latest Seal of Quality winners, who have been recognized by the people who matter most — their customers.”
Logos Biosystems is set to launch the newest member of the LUNA™ family, the LUNA-FX7™ Automated Cell Counter, later this year. The new instrument builds on the success of its predecessors. The LUNA-FX7™ has unmatched cell counting accuracy with a maximum counting volume of 5 µL (10 times that of conventional cell counters), all new optics, dual fluorescence and brightfield illumination, a fast and precise autofocus, and multichannel pipette-ready 8-channel slides to count up to eight sample simultaneously. “A significant upgrade is that the LUNA-FX7™ is 21 CFR Part 11-compatible, which improves the security and efficiency of a lab’s work flow” said Neon Jung, PhD, CEO of Logos Biosystems. “It also has built-in quality control features that help monitor and optimize bioprocesses.”
The LUNA family of automated cell counters are for research use only and not intended for diagnostic purposes.
